Blue-green algae warning for Lake Zumbro visitors

🚨 IMPORTANT SAFETY ALERT — BLUE-GREEN ALGAE ON LAKE ZUMBRO 🚨
Please help us spread the word and keep our families and pets safe.
Blue-green algae (harmful algal blooms) has been detected on Lake Zumbro. The MPCA believes the bloom may be present throughout Lake Zumbro, so please use caution anywhere on the lake.
⚠️ THIS CAN BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO DOGS AND CAN BE FATAL.
Dogs can become seriously ill or die after drinking or being exposed to water containing toxic blue-green algae.
People can also become VERY SICK from exposure, particularly if water is swallowed or there is prolonged contact with contaminated water.
🐕 Please keep your dogs out of the lake until conditions improve.
👧 Keep children from swimming or playing in affected water.
🚫 Do not drink lake water.
💦 Be especially cautious around areas where algae is visible, including green scum, mats, or discolored water.
Both Olmsted County and Wabasha public boat launches will be placing warning signage soon to help alert people arriving at the lake.

FOR AFFIDAVITS OF CANDIDACY

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Minnesota Statutes 205.13, Subd. 2, that any person eligible and desiring to have their name placed on the official ballot as a candidate for a City of Zumbro Falls, Minnesota elective office to be voted for at the primary election on August 11, 2026, if required, and the general election on November 3, 2026, shall file their affidavit of candidacy at the City Clerk’s Office, 342 Hwy 60 from the dates of July 14th, 2026 at 8:00 A.M. through June 28th, 2026 at 5:00 P.M.

            Elective offices are:

                 Mayor                                                           2 year term

                 Council Member                                          4 year term

      

 

Notice: Open Book Appeal – Value or classification of your property

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Appeal and Equalization for City of Zumbro Falls will be open from April 6th, 2026 to May 29th, 2026 – Contact the Assessor’s Office for an appointment Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm (Phone 651-565-3669 or email LBAE@co.wabasha.mmn.us). The purpose of this meeting is to determine whether taxable property in the jurisdiction has been properly valued and classified by the assessor, and to determine whether correction needs to be made. 

If you believe that the value or classification of your property is incorrect, please contact your assessor’s office to discuss your concerns. If you are still not satisfied with the valuation or classification after discussing it with your assessor, you may appeal before the local Board of Appeal and Equalization. The board shall review the valuation, classification, or both if necessary, and shall correct it as needed. Generally, an appearance before your local Board of Appeal and Equalization is required by law before an appeal can be taken to the County Board of Appeal and Equalization.
